Magnolia

The magnolia tree in my garden is full of flowers at the moment, a sign that Winter is over and Spring is here. I like how in the morning the light filters through the flower petals, giving them a fragile appearance while in fact this are pretty sturdy flowers.

Mural in progress

I took this photograph a few years ago and liked the combination of the two different images and stiles.

Edit (6/23/2014) Apparently, the mural within the mural of the doctor listening to the heart symbol is of the famous artist Banksy who painted a series of works in San Francisco in 2010.

IRIS – The realitivity of color

One of the artworks at GlowNext in Eindhoven was IRIS, designed by students from the TU/e in Eindhoven. With it they wanted to show that colors don’t exist and are created in our heads as the result of complex processes of perception, comparison and adjustment. By blending three images of different colors I tried to show this in the image below.

Eindhoven Glow 2013

This week was the week of Eindhoven Glow 2013.  Like last year there was the main route of about 4 km through the city and the smaller route, called Glow Next, at Strijp S. What follows is my impression of this year’s Glow.  If you want to know more about the art works, please visit the Eindhoven Glow website at http://www.gloweindhoven.nl/website/glow/glow.php

Dutch Design Week

Today was day 8 of the 9-day Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (The Netherlands). I only had time to visit the Vlisco exhibition in the Lichttoren and the exhibitions at the Klokgebouw at the Strijp-S site. This was only a small selection of all the offerings but nevertheless it was amazing. Next year I will take some more time to explore.

This is an impression:

The girl and the tree

Sometimes mistakes in exposure turn out surprisingly well. This image was way overexposed but I like the way it turned out and no editing apart from converting to black & white was done.
