Bristlecone Pine

This is an older photo I took, back in the days that I still used film. The negative was scanned and than converted to black and white to bring out the texture of the tree.

These Bristlecone Pines grow high in the White Mountain in California where almost nothing else grows. It is a barren, rocky, windy and cold landscape and it is really amazing that these trees have been growing there for so long. Apparently the  species of Bristlecone Pine that grows in the White Mountain can live up to 5000 years!
