The lone tree

It has been a while since the last post, moving house took more time than I anticipated.

This image was taken last Fall when we went for a walk on the moor to the south of where we live. I like the form of the tree.and how it stands out from the rest.

Eindhoven Glow 2014

Last week was the annual festival of light in Eindhoven. Fifty artist made light and sound sculptures and transformed the city in the evening. Apart from the main route through the city there was also the smaller Glow Next at the former Philips site Strijp-S. More interactive and smaller but at least as interesting as the main event. This is an impression:

Sunset

An early summer sunset. The sea was calm and this is a long exposure image with an exposure time of 20 seconds. What was amazing is that the sea gulls stayed in the same place for the full 20 seconds and even longer. One other exposure I took shows one sea gull less ‘substantial’ then the other four: he (or she) took off about halfway through the taking of the picture.

Abstract in Rotterdam

A few weeks ago I visited Rotterdam with a photo group. Rotterdam has great opportunities for photographing if you like the urban and street photography. We had a great day, certainly also worth to repeat it and visit some other parts of the city.

This is a part of the Kunsthal.

A Saint to watch over you

While visiting Malta it was hard not to notice how Catholic the island is. On a lot of street corners one could find Saint statues like this, often behind glass windows.

Buckets for rain

While on vacation in Malta, this was the view from our apartment. Apart from the typical buildings in Malta it shows that rain is a scarce good on Malta and that it is worth it to place large buckets on the roof to collect the rain. Perhaps to water the plants?
